Makana Muanga

Muanga was active in the San Diego poetry/art music scene for nearly two decades. Starting in the early nineties contributing to the musical performance troupe Elysian in ’93. Muanga later co-founded the Auburn Diatribe Collective, which combined urban style spoken word with traditional rhythms from the African Diaspora.  In 2003 Muanga had the opportunity to conceive, compile and direct Downsized, An Urban Ritual About the Legacy of Poverty, in San Diego California.  Muanga has been a member of many bands since 2003 including; Trippin’ In Polyester, Your New Gods, as well as, Pan’s Prancing Peccadillo (PPP).  He has had fruitful collaborations with Nicole Klaymoon’s Embodiment Project. His ongoing project is, Makana’s Red Artifact.
